Modeling group fMRI data.
The analysis of group fMRI data requires a statistical model known as the mixed effects model. This article motivates the need for a mixed effects model and outlines the different stages of the mixed model used to analyze group fMRI data. Different modeling options and their impact on analysis results are also described.
متن کاملDEALING WITH SPATIAL NORMALIZATION ERRORS IN fMRI GROUP INFERENCE USING HIERARCHICAL MODELING
An important challenge in neuroimaging multi-subject studies is to take into account that different brains cannot be aligned perfectly. To this end, we extend the classical mass univariate model for group analysis to incorporate uncertainty on localization by introducing, for each subject, a spatial “jitter” variable to be marginalized out. We derive a Bayes factor to test for the mean populati...
متن کاملEfficient modeling and inference for event-related fMRI data
Event-related functional magnetic resonance imaging (efMRI) has emerged as a powerful technique for detecting brains’ responses to presented stimuli. A primary goal in efMRI data analysis is to estimate the Hemodynamic Response Function (HRF) and to locate activated regions in human brains when specific tasks are performed. This paper develops new methodologies that are important improvements n...
متن کاملMultilevel linear modelling for FMRI group analysis using Bayesian inference.
Functional magnetic resonance imaging studies often involve the acquisition of data from multiple sessions and/or multiple subjects. A hierarchical approach can be taken to modelling such data with a general linear model (GLM) at each level of the hierarchy introducing different random effects variance components. Inferring on these models is nontrivial with frequentist solutions being unavaila...
متن کاملAutomatically Modeling Group Behavior of Simple Agents
Mathematical modeling and analysis of collective behavior of multi-agent systems is an important tool that will enable researchers to study even very large systems, validate agent models and get insight into multi-agent system design. Biologists, for example, can compare the model’s predictions to the observed collective behavior of simple organisms, such as social insects, to understand indivi...
